We are seeking a skilled Automotive Design Engineer to conduct packaging and layout studies, develop updatable parametric CATIA V5 2D drawings and 3D models, and review class 'A' surfaces supplied by styling. The ideal candidate will develop B side surfaces for plastic parts and sheet metal components, ensuring they meet manufacturing tool requirements and TEMA standards. This role involves performing blend filleting, passing Level E certification, and checking shading quality of blend filleted part data prior to release.

ResponsibilitiesConduct packaging and layout studies.Develop updatable parametric CATIA V5 2D drawings and 3D models using the TEMA specified design process.Review class 'A' surface supplied by styling to identify data quality concerns.Develop B side surfaces for plastic parts, including manufacturing tool requirements to meet TEMA standards.Develop surfaces for sheet metal components, including manufacturing tool requirements to meet TEMA standards.Perform blend filleting and pass Level E certification.Check shading quality of blend filleted part data prior to release.Prepare 2D drawings as required to define engineering intent.Check data for accuracy and integrity, making repairs to achieve TEMA requirements for tangency, gap, and content.Accurately complete a part/drawing requirement check sheet.Calculate blank shapes and material yield for body shell parts.Create PowerCopies to automate the creation of common features.Complete daily progress tracking sheets.Prepare and negotiate engineer/designer communication and open issue sheets, returning completed data to TEMA Engineer with a clear status report for open issues.Essential Skills2 years of automotive design experience in one or more of the following areas: Body Shell, Interior Trim, Seats, Functional Parts, Electrical/Wire Harness.2 years of parametric CAD modeling experience.Experience with the following CATIA V5 workbenches: Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly Design, Drafting.Additional Skills & QualificationsMUST HAVE EXPEREINCE IN BIW, Seats OR Interior TrimWork Environment

Currently, the schedule includes 3 days on-site work in Saline and 2 days working from home. However, starting in September, a 5-day in-office work week will be implemented

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr.
