Entry-Level Civil or Structural Engineer (SUS)  Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers' Small Utilities (SUS) Department is currently seeking an Entry Level Civil or Structural Engineer to work in the Ellensburg, WA area (candidates within commuting distance are preferred). The entry level candidate will take part in establishing a new POWER Engineers office to help support the growing demand from our clients located in the Northwest region of the country. The qualified candidate will support substation and distribution design, as well as a variety of other tasks as assigned by our electrical utility clients. The Small Utility Services (SUS) Department offers an opportunity to work with a unique portfolio of clients. The focus of this group is smaller-scale utilities such as Electrical Cooperatives, Municipal Utilities, Rural Electric Associations, Public Utility Districts, Industrial Clients, and others. The ideal candidate possesses a service mindset in line with our clients. Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities Perform the detailed design for low to extra-high voltage substations and utility distribution systems including, but not limited to: Foundation Plans and Details Structural Steel Details Station Physical Layouts Sections/Elevations Cable and Conduit Plans and Details Ground Grid Plans and Details Lightning Protection Plans Bills of Materials Pole and structure design/standards Joint Pole Analysis This role may include occasional travel and field work including, but not limited to: Pre-Design Site Walkdowns Construction Oversight Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients. Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs. Attend internal and external trainings, conferences, seminars, etc. Required Education/Experience      BSCE (BS Civil Engineering), BSCET (BS Civil Engineering Technology), or BSCE (BS Civil Engineering) degree, from an ABET-accredited university preferably with a structural/construction focus. Strong knowledge and understanding of civil or structural engineering to build on. The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.   Preferred Education/Experience At least 3 months of relevant civil engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis. Knowledge of electrical utility substations or familiarity with substation design. Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam OR ability to pass within 6 months. Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for completing tasks.

Base Salary Range:  $65K- $80K

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
