Entry Level Environmental Specialist
Job Title: Environmental Specialist Job Description Are you passionate about environmental science and eager to gain hands-on experience in the field? We are seeking an Environmental Specialist who is keen on working with hazardous waste and contributing to environmental safety. This role will involve working in teams to perform lab pack services, including chemical segregation, packing, and disposal, as well as conducting chemical inventories, audits, and inspections of facilities and laboratories. You will also assist management in developing top accounts and devising standard operating procedures while demonstrating supervisory leadership skills through interactions with team members. Essential Skills + Strong interest in working in the field with hazardous waste. + Health & Safety knowledge. + Environmental science experience + Customer service skills. + OSHA 40 certification. + Experience with hazardous materials handling. + Field surveying skills. + Field service experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in a science-related field. + Degree in Environmental Science preferred. + Degrees in related fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Geology, Marine Science, etc. + Prior work experience, ideally hands-on or in customer service (not research). + Personable and able to interact with clients daily. + Comfortable with the physical aspects of the position, including packing and disposing of chemicals. Work Environment This position involves working on-site at various locations throughout the Greater Boston area, including Bio/Pharma companies, life science companies, hospitals, and higher education institutions. The role is 100% field-based with no typical day, as tasks and clients will vary daily. Candidates will report to the Somerville office each day and then travel to different sites in a company vehicle with their team of 1-4 people. Workdays are 8-10 hours starting at 6 or 7 am. You will work in a crew of 2-5 people, including a team lead who will provide guidance and answer any questions.
