We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-level Instrumentation Engineer aligned with our Water Solution Center in Gainesville, FL. In this role, you will be a part of one of the largest water market delivery centers in the southern United States. You will lead the water and wastewater facility designs for conventional and design-build projects ranging from $1M to over $250M in construction and support diverse projects around the region. With a strong backlog in both water treatment and wastewater treatment projects, there are unlimited opportunities to focus on the technologies and growth that you desire. As an Entry-Level Instrumentation Engineer, you will work with a core group of engineers and designers on water and wastewater treatment designs and construction services support to deliver innovative solutions to challenging technical problems that our clients face. Through your pursuit to becoming a professional engineer, you will work collaboratively with our team to complete the following:
• Evaluation and selection of process control instruments, such as pressure, flow, level meters, and analyzers
• Evaluation and selection of process equipment, pumps, and piping.
• Development of process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications
• Technical report writing
• Construction services support
You will also use your technical skills to work with diverse, technical teams to deliver challenging projects while serving and developing clients across the United States and internationally. Jacobs has a strong technical water/wastewater treatment background, and you will have the opportunity to connect to and work with our technical experts across the company.
* Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited school
* Educational knowledge and a strong interest in control system design.
* Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
* Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* Hold an NCESS Fundamental Engineers record, with the drive to obtain Professional licensure.
* An internship in process or instrumentation engineering and project delivery experience with water, wastewater, and/or industrial treatment.
* Knowledge of telecommunication system design, such as radio telemetry, cellular networks, and fiber-optic communication networks.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity and process safety best practices
* Desire to learn more about water/wastewater treatment plants
