Job OverviewThe University of Cincinnati, Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) is recruiting for several Entry-Level Phlebotomist/Donor Care Technicians, Level 1 positions. FULL & PART TIME POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE (24-40 hours per week). The intended candidate(s) will register and screen prospective blood donors and process blood donors on our Mobile Units (Units meet in Clifton, OH) and at our Neighborhood Donor Centers, including Anderson, OH; Blue Ash, OH; Central (Clifton, OH); North (West Chester, OH); Tri-County (Springdale, OH); West (Western Hills, OH); and Fort Mitchell, KY.
Varying shifts are available. Occasional holiday and rotating weekend shifts are required.
This position requires friendly, patient, reliable individuals that will be responsible for taking vital signs, performing venipuncture, and providing post-donation care for our community of volunteer blood donors. Experience in customer service and phlebotomy is ideal; excellent communication skills, a focus on quality, and the ability to work a flexible schedule are essential. Essential Functions Guide donors through the process and provide education opportunities throughout the experience. Obtain and update registration information prior to donation according to established departmental procedures. Determines suitability of prospective donors based upon evaluation of health history and physical findings Perform all documentation including reviews, either electronic or manual to meet regulatory and HBC procedures and guidelines. Correctly perform, record, and evaluate all Quality Control (QC) of equipment for collection operation. Selects vein, prepares venipuncture site, performs phlebotomy for whole blood component collections. Maintains a successful phlebotomy rate as defined by the division. Recognizes and appropriately manages adverse donor reactions. Performs the duties of the receptionist in his/her absence. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Required Trainings/CertificationsValid driver's license with an acceptable record.
Required ExperienceSix (6) months customer service experience.
