ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Watertown, MA office is looking for an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including real estate municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands and aviation. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery approach. Our clients include municipalities, MassDOT and other state agencies, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.
Responsibilities
Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation-related areas to develop mobility solutions for all users Conduct multi-modal transportation analysesConduct safety research and assessmentsPerform field observations and site visitsPrepare transportation impact, corridor and intersection improvement studiesPlanning/conceptual design of transportation engineering and planning projectsConduct research and preparation of reports, and presenting findings and results to clientsSkills and Attributes
Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in transportation engineering & planningTeam oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and mentor junior staffSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail orientedExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to think critically and strategically in solving problems and devising approachesExperience using industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, traffic simulation) requiredQualifications
BS in Civil/Transportation Engineering, or related field0-1 years of professional transportation engineering and/or planning experienceCandidates with EIT preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite requiredExperience with AutoCAD, Synchro, ArcGIS and/or HCS preferredExperience with PTV VISSIM and/or Adobe Creative Suites products a plusHiring Salary Range - $75,000 - 81,000. However, the final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
