Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager
MAU is hiring an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager for Gildan in Eden, NC. As an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, you will implement workplace environmental, safety, and health programs at assigned facilities to help foster a compliant operation where Zero Harm culture is continuously embraced. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM On-call as needed Required Education and Experience University degree 3 – 5+ years of relevant experience Experience driving OSHA standards General Requirements Operational Expertise and Business Acumen: resolve issues using detailed knowledge of operations and procedures; update methods based on defined procedures; understand the interplay between business sectors and departmental impact; analyze data to inform decisions; provide professional services using standard procedures; interpret policies and procedures accurately Problem-Solving Skills: identify and resolve immediate team problems; research familiar areas to determine actions Leadership Skills: supervise resource use and lead team members; achieve short-term results and meet deadlines Communication skills: guide and advise team members; train team members and provide specialized information Decision-making skills: make decisions impacting team effectiveness; serve as the point of contact for technical issues and supervise results Preferred Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Chemistry, Engineering; other Physical Sciences will be considered in conjunction with EH&S coursework or certifications Current CPR/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen Trainer Certifications OSHA 30-hour NFPA 70E, Confined Space, & Control of Hazardous Energy training Fall Protection Competent Person Essential Functions Drive implementation and improvement of EH&S programs at one or more distribution facilities in the US Collaborate with facility operational teams and EH&S staff to implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control EH&S risks and achieve compliance with the Gildan safety and environmental policies, corporate EH&S guidelines, and improvement initiatives Conduct assessments that identify hazards and reduce risk, including hazard identification, job safety analysis, risk assessments, pre-startup safety review, PPE, machine guarding, and hazardous energy Conduct training in all aspects of EH&S to ensure compliance with legal and Gildan requirements and in a manner that positively engages employee behaviors Collaboratively conduct incident reviews for causes and develop corrective/preventative actions Coach all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors, and techniques that build and sustain a safety culture consistent with Gildan’s values Conduct industrial hygiene evaluations sufficient to identify hazards, risks, and trends Conduct internal audits, compliance assessments, and inspections Drive safety programs for contractors and construction projects Maintain EH&S documentation, records, and EH&S management information tools Develop and implement plans to complete personal objectives that align with organizational objectives Participate in audits/inspections by external parties such as OSHA, EPA, Property Insurance Carrier, Corporate, etc. Perform other tasks as assigned Travel Overnight travel is necessary and estimated to occur between 10 – 20% of the time In some cases, travel can be accomplished in day trips
