Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager

Job Summary
 This position provides comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety direction and guidance to support Plant Management on all aspects in this area.

 

Essential Accountabilities 

Work closely with plant management and local safety personnel to address Environmental, Health & Safety issues and drive successful implementation of Corporate Health & Safety programsEstablish Environmental, Health & Safety objectives and goals for the plant and departments ensuring they are consistent with Corporate Strategies and objectivesConduct on-site Health & Safety audits/ inspections to assure compliance with Corporate Health & Safety policies, programs, procedures and guidelinesEnsure plant is complaint with State and Federal Safety Regulations (OSHA/ Cal OSHA, DOT etc.) and formulates recommendations for implementing best practicesEvaluate the organization’s procedures, facilities and equipment - identify, analyze and control of occupational hazards via risk assessmentsProactively manage and deliver employee Health & Safety training for existing and new employees (safety orientation program)Educate Management on Health & Safety best practicesManage, research and recommend safety programs, policies and systemsEstablish a series of effective Health & Safety KPI’s for the plant and provide monthly reports to ManagementManage Workers Compensation claims, working on recommendations for claim settlements, medical treatments and strategies (reducing company exposure/costs)Carry out near miss and accident investigation in timely fashion; Identify root cause of accidents and implement corrective actions/measures.Report accidents in timely basis within the Company, Workers Compensation Insurance carrier and regulatory agenciesCommunicates and celebrates success to maintain and foster Company’s commitment towards Health & SafetyMaintain membership and continuous development in applicable Health & Safety associations, being informed on new trends, legal requirements and developmentsVisit the work area frequently to ensure compliance, and discusses safety issues with team.  Explains to team that safety excellence is expected and is a requirement of employment.  Encourages the team to report incidents, near-misses and unsafe conditions. SWR employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.


Job Qualifications

5+ years progressive Safety experience in a manufacturing environmentBachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or related area, preferred Certified Safety Professional preferredExcellent communication skills (both written and verbal)Bilingual in Spanish, preferredComputer proficiency - Excel, Power Point and WordAbility to read, write, speak fluently in EnglishMust be able to travel on short notice 75%
