We are searching for an EHS Specialist to join our team! Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and enhance our safety programs. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to workplace safety, environmental health, and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance. Additionally, the EHS Specialist will develop and deliver safety training programs to promote a culture of safety across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Compliance: * Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies by monitoring workplace conditions, conducting audits, and recommending corrective actions. * Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs to mitigate risks and improve workplace safety. * Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. * Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. * Manage and track safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. DOT Compliance: * Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including driver qualification files, hours of service (HOS), and vehicle maintenance records. * Conduct audits of driver logs, vehicle inspections, and transportation safety programs to ensure compliance with FMCSA and company policies. * Coordinate drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT and company policies. * Provide DOT training for drivers and employees involved in regulated transportation activities. * Monitor fleet safety, including vehicle telematics and driver behavior trends, to identify risks and implement corrective actions. Training and Development: * Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, PPE usage, emergency response, and other safety-related topics. * Maintain training records and ensure employees receive refresher training as required by regulations and company policies. * Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hands-on training to engage employees and reinforce safe work practices. Additional Responsibilities: * Contractor Safety Compliance – Ensure third-party contractors comply with company and regulatory safety requirements through audits and orientations. * Regulatory Reporting & Recordkeeping – Maintain compliance records and prepare reports for OSHA, DOT, and EPA. * Environmental Compliance & Sustainability – Assist with waste management, stormwater compliance, and sustainability initiatives. * Safety Incentive & Engagement Programs – Develop employee recognition programs to encourage participation in safety initiatives. * Emergency Response Planning – Support emergency preparedness efforts, including fire drills, spill response, and business continuity planning. Qualifications & Skills: * 2-5 years of experience in EHS, safety management, or regulatory compliance, preferably in manufacturing, transportation, construction, or a related industry. * Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (preferred). * Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT/FMCSA regulations and best practices. * Experience developing and delivering safety training programs. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS management systems. * Ability to conduct fieldwork, safety inspections, and investigations in industrial, warehouse, or transportation environments. * Certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or DOT Compliance certifications are a plus. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: * Ability to walk, stand, climb, and lift to 50 lbs. in an industrial setting. * May require occasional travel to multiple work sites or regulatory meetings. * Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments.
