What You’ll Work On 

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) function concerns itself with the health, safety and security of employees through prevention of incidents, accidents, illnesses, and injuries and of the environment.  Included in the EHS function areas are environmental, safety, employee health, industrial hygiene, fire, and security.  The EHS&S Specialist will be responsible for a variety of safety and security programs; risk assessments and audits; regulatory and Abbott reporting; assisting with project and contractor management; training; and monitoring.

Develops, implements, and manages plant safety programsConduct Plant Safety MeetingAssist management in preparing a variety of EHS presentationsKeep informed on current environmental, health, safety and security regulations and legislation and recommend policy changes.Implements and manages Abbott global technical standardsConducts risk assessmentsDevelops and conducts/coordinates EHS trainingsMaintain files and records pertaining to environmental, safety and securityMaintain site environmental reports and permitsConduct site regulatory inspectionsAssists with accident/incident investigation and corrective actionsConduct frequent EHS tours/audits of all plant areas and make recommendations for corrective actions for environmental, safety and health concerns.Review the installation and modification of all equipment/processes for EHS concerns.Assist Employee Health in a variety of functions such as dosimetry, audiometric testing and training.Conduct new hire EHS orientations.Assist with Food Defense ProgramAssist in managing capital funded projects pertaining to EHS and Security Responsible for a variety of timely environmental projects.Assist with the improvement of the plant’s recycling efforts.Manage safety and security systems; inspections and repairsAssist in managing capital funded projects pertaining to EHS and Security Responsible for a variety of timely environmental projects.Assist with the improvement of the plant’s recycling efforts.Manage safety and security systems; inspections and repairs

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures. 

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience3+ years of experience in Occupational Health & SafetyWorking knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e., OSHA, EPA)Ability to translate regulatory requirements into policies and procedures Proven leadership skills and the ability to make good decisionsStrong written and verbal communication skillsSolid strategic and analytical skillsProgram management skills, including proven ability to deliver thorough and timely solutions to issues and initiativesAbility to work independently to drive for resultsGood presentation skillsFlexibility to come in on off shifts and weekends as needed to conduct training, accident investigations, etc

Preferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
