ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
1. Plans, formulates and revises safety programs and rules; assesses hazardous conditions, processes and/or practices; and recommends changes to mitigate or alleviate safety or process issues.
2. Creates EHS training curriculum and conducts training classes to include accident prevention, regulatory compliance and emergency preparedness, forklift safety, lifting, etc.
3. Performs incident management reviews, such accident investigation, medical provider care management, back to work programs, etc.; and tracks incidents and/or employee injuries to completion and safety activities as assigned by the manager.
4. Coordinates hazardous, universal and reusable/recyclable wastes handling processes and pick-ups.
5. Collects water, waste water, storm water and other samples following chain of custody; submits samples to testing labs and processes results, as needed.
6. Performs environmental and safety audits, inspections and reports findings.
7. Ensures local governmental regulations are adhered to, reporting any needed findings.
8. Records various findings/issues in EHS database/electronic systems.
9. Follow-up on EHS corrective action plans to implement preventive and/or corrective actions to resolve regulatory and other potentially hazardous/unsafe conditions.
10. Investigates employee and environmental incidents to ensure root cause identification and resolution.
11. Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, or related field.
• Five years of work related environmental, health and safety experience, to include injured worker health care paperwork processing.
• EHS experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Good training skills and the ability to train employees on various EHS issues.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner while meeting deadlines.
• Familiar with environmental monitoring equipment such as air quality.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations.
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• EHS experience in a self-insured company strongly preferred.
