What You'll Do:
Provide leadership for the implementation of EHS standards and procedures.
Offer expert technical assistance on EHS issues and partner with functional leadership on compliance, project management, and reporting matters.
Actively participate in the site leadership team in planning, EHS governance, auditing, management systems, best practice sharing, compliance initiatives, and governmental/regulatory reporting.
Promote a zero-injury safety culture by providing leadership and coaching at each site.
Implement lockout/tagout procedures and programs to industry standards.
Ensure compliance reporting for all environmental, health, and safety activities.
Maintain EHS record-keeping and documentation control.
Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs for managers, supervisors, and employees.
Develop and communicate strategies to achieve EHS goals.
Perform EHS audits and implement audit recommendations.
Assess potential environmental risks and provide mitigation plans.
Investigate environmental, health, and safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective action plans.
Manage pollution and waste control programs.
Evaluate the safety of new processes and equipment.
Conduct or direct testing of air quality or noise levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
Develop and deploy training programs to meet regulatory requirements and operational needs.
Assess EHS performance and collaborate with appropriate personnel to develop recovery/improvement plans.
Manage all maintenance activities, including the management of the TPM program.
Schedule maintenance personnel to repair and maintain machines according to business needs/priorities.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety management, environmental management, or a related field.
10+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, with metals manufacturing experience being a plus.
High degree of personal integrity.
Multi-site experience.
Proven ability to lead change initiatives and demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and across the organization.
Ability to think strategically and critically analyze details from multiple sources.
Initiative to get things accomplished and apply appropriate situational leadership techniques.
Competence in evaluating people's strengths and improvement areas and mentoring/coaching for improvement.
Comprehensive understanding of EHS regulations and requirements in Ohio.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience supervising, leading, and developing EHS professionals.
Experience with process improvement tools such as Kaizen is a big plus.
Strong focus on behavioral safety and employee engagement.
Ability to reconstruct the EHS Department from the ground up.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs with occasional climbing, keeling.
