Contract Position

Responsibilities:
Design and produce armored combat and support vehicles. Contribute to a safe and compliant work environment by ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.Manage and report EHS data for regulatory compliance, inspections, and audits.Maintain the EHS management system (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001), including internal audits and program elements.Conduct EHS risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT regulations.Perform industrial hygiene sampling and exposure monitoring, providing reports and recommendations.Assist managers and employees in fulfilling safety and compliance responsibilities, including audits and adherence to policies.Support hazardous waste management, air emissions monitoring, and stormwater compliance.Investigate HAZMAT spills, employee injuries, and near-miss incidents, ensuring corrective actions are documented.Conduct respirator fit tests and safety briefings for contractors and service providers.Develop and deliver EHS training, safety talks, and awareness campaigns.Interface with state and federal agencies such as Michigan EGLE, EPA, OSHA (MIOSHA), NRC, and DOT for inspections and reporting.Maintain environmental permits and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.Participate in facility visits, compliance inspections, and safety assessments at multiple locations as needed.Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related field or equivalent certification.Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.Experience Requirements:
5+ years of experience in an EHS role within an industrial, defense, or manufacturing environment.Skills & Certifications:
Proficiency in EHS regulations and policies (CAA, RCRA, CWA, SARA Title III).RCRA and DOT training certifications required.Knowledge of Michigan EGLE, OSHA Fall Protection, and Industrial Stormwater Management requirements.Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based EHS management systems.Ability to travel to other GDLS CONUS locations as required.Physical & Work Environment Requirements:Must meet Military Vehicle Safe Work Requirements, including Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR) for vehicle entry.Work is primarily in an office environment but may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, military vehicles, and industrial equipment.Must be able to walk/stand 50% of the time, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform tasks requiring stooping, kneeling, and reaching.Your Recruiter Still have questions?
