Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director
Position SummaryAs an EHS Director, you'll contribute to the success of Mom’s Meals by ensuring regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, and Department of Transportation), incident prevention, and after injury management. This position reports to the Vice President of Technical Services and will develop, implement, and continuously improve programs within the EHS Management System framework - all while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal standards. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in employee and motor vehicle safety and highly skilled at implementing processes that will lead to sustained Environmental, Health, and Safety performance improvements. This role requires the ability to build strategic awareness and vision to the company safety culture throughout all sites.Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited toLead environmental health and safety for the entire companyAchieve annual metrics for Recordable Incident Rate, Lost Time Incident Rate, and Incident Severity RateFacilitate the completion of a company-wide annual EHS training planOversee the internal safety audit program throughout all sitesAnalyze incident trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact eventsFacilitate incident investigations from a root cause analysis approach, ensuring that preventative actions address system causes and not just individual behaviorsDrive and ensure the EHS Management System elements are applied effectively by your team throughout Operations & Engineering; develop new procedures, inspections, trainings, or reports as neededReview equipment and space designs on everything from machine guards to chemical processes, and provide feedback on EHS impacts; Industrial Hygiene, Fire Safety, Chemical Safety, Process Safety, Hazardous Materials, NFPA Standards, ANSI/ASTM Standards, etc.Coach, mentor and support other EHS team membersCompliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal standardFacilitate company emergency awareness and action plansStrong liaison with government agencies such as OSHA and EPALead communications with Senior Management regarding safety and health issues and concernsOversee budget management of the EH&S programRequired Skills and Experience 10+ years’ EHS experience with seven (7) or more years’ EHS management experienceExtensive knowledge of local, state, and federal OSHA, DOT, and EPA rules and regulationsAbility to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environmentTeam player with the ability to create strong working relationships Strong computer skills and proficient in MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.)Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes Collaboration and partnering with stakeholders in decision making Demonstrated initiative, good problem-solving skills, and analytical skills Demonstrated high level of care and concern towards all team membersAbility to work 40+ hours/week including off-shifts on occasion30% travelPreferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or another related field EHS experience in a manufacturing settingPhysical RequirementsRepetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingersSedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periodsVisual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
