Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing

Your role will be critical to Ecolab’s supply chain success as you help mitigate risk and identify key Safety and Regulatory requirements in transportation and distribution. You will assist in the development and deployment of programs to ensure employee personal safety and process safety, as well as ensure compliance to company-wide best practices and other regulatory bodies in line with Ecolab’s core values. 

The person hired for this position will be a highly motivated, detail orientated and independent individual responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise with a player coach mentality for assessing and managing risks across the supply chain’s distribution network. Developing, implementing and refining risk assessment and management programs, methods and strategies. Performing audits, analyzing data, and systems. Proactively supporting development of professional competency for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professionals.

What You Will Do:

Applies risk management and engineering principles to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance activities, including providing technical support, completing comprehensive risk assessments, and developing and deploying EHS programs

Ensures full and consistent compliance to hazardous and dangerous goods handling, storage, and transportation regulation

Leading or participating in serious EHS incident investigations and ensuring appropriate communication and tracking items to closure

Participating on EHS audits, audit program management or self-assessment standard development

Coaching and mentoring site personnel leading or supporting operations by promote engineering control concepts and design, policy and program development, and related activities

Support global EHS initiatives and objectives. (e.g. 5S, Safety Observations, Audits)

Develops, tracks, and communicates EHS metrics such as safety key performance indicators, result of regulatory inspections, and compliance cost indices

Analyzing EHS data and trends for correction of gaps to address risk

This position is located in Garland, TX

Must be within commutable distance to 2305 Sherwin St, Garland, TX 75041

Work Schedule: Typically, 6am to 4pm M-F; Some Saturdays, as required

100% Onsite, Salaried/Exempt Position

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; OR High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years' equivalent working experience

 3 years’ relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a Safety, Engineering, or Science discipline from an accredited institution, preferred

Advanced degree, a plus

6 years’ experience working in a production or manufacturing environment in an Environmental, Health and Safety role, highly preferred

Certified Safety Professional designation, preferred

Experience and/or familiarity with regulations governing the storage, movement, and disposal of dangerous goods (49 CFR, RCRA, PHMSA, CFR, IMDG, and IATA)

Experience in the design and implementation of risk assessment strategies, tools, and systems
