Job DescriptionIn this role, the Environmental Advisor is involved in ‘hands on' project management and change management, and leads the organization in the development and/or implementation of permits, strategies and policies related to environmental priorities. This role provides professional guidance, support, and coaching to the organization on environmental activities as well as health and safety. A strong collaborative approach in the implementation of programs and initiatives is essential in the success of this role. Travelling in-between Feeder Yards and KUP locations in Quebec is required weekly
Prepare, maintain and control environmental permits, records and proceduresWork with consultants as well as the engineering and operating team to ensure that the environmental site requirements are metProvide communication and education of environmental requirements and initiatives to key stakeholders both within the organization and externallyCreate and/or update current environmental procedures and provide training as requiredCommunicate with local, provincial, state and federal entities for purposes of obtaining or amending permits and information on industry-related topicsReport and update environmental programs (Oil Management, Hazardous Materials, etc), including compliance and costsCoordinate environmental data collection and reporting for the feeder yards and KUPAs required, communicate with the public, follow up on public comments and attend Community Liaison meetingsProvide health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance support and reports findings, concerns, and deficiencies.Perform environmental inspections at our Quebec sitesProvide leadership, direction, training, and expertise toward the implementation of health, safety and environmental management programs with internal/external stakeholders and contractors.Act as point of contact for local, provincial or federal regulatory groups Act as a HSE subject matter resource for the field.Act as a liaison with outside organizations (e.g., fire & police departments, rescue teams, Hazmat response, etc.) to promote open communications, prepare response plans and to ensure comprehensive support in case of HSE emergency.Participate with the local areas in activities such as safety meetings, tabletop exercises, emergency responses, security related incidents and investigations and inspections.QualificationsMinimum 3-5 years of Environmental experienceUniversity Degree in Environmental related disciplineStrong understanding of regulatory requirements for applicable jurisdictions.Ability to effectively work within a group and in problem solving.Demonstrate strong leadership skills within the field of expertise.Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work requirements effectively with minimal direction.Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft applications and web applications.Strong written and oral communication.Strong interpersonal skills supporting a coaching and mentoring approach.Recycling industry experience will be an assetAdditional InformationWhat we Offer:
