This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. This job announcement may be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland. Nature of Work:This is an inspection position in the Landscape Programs Division (LPD) within the Office of Environmental Design (OED). The main purpose of this position is to provide inspection services, provide internal and external customer service and coordination, and manage environmental assets within the nine counties of Maryland’s eastern shore. These duties require skills in construction and horticultural practices, and project budgeting. LPD is the lead division responsible for the following: the installation, establishment, management, and preservation of environmental assets; the planning, design, review, and advertisement of landscaping and environmental projects; and for technical resources and guidance regarding environmental assets for SHA. This position interprets and enforces agency and office policies and processes. Critical functions of this position include monitoring and inspecting OED and district construction projects to ensure that all landscape milestones are met and documented, and that project data is accurately tracked. This individual will coordinate to compile complete records for projects and ensure that assets are effectively captured in LPD's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) inventory. This position is responsible for tracking and forecasting project spending while coordinating with the Regional Team Leader to ensure alignment with budgetary goals. This position provides technical support to maintenance personnel regarding the control of invasive vegetation, tree evaluations, and roadside vegetation management. This position also provides technical support to construction personnel including personnel assigned to highway construction projects regarding landscape construction and environmental mitigation. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in natural sciences, earth science, physical science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, biology, agronomy, forestry, horticulture or related sciences, geography, environmental planning, civil engineering, sociology, economics, planning, anthropology, architectural history or related fields such as ecology, landscape architecture, or environmental engineering.
