Job Summary

This position will be filled as either an Environmental Compliance Coordinator or as a Senior Environmental Compliance Coordinator position.  There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.


We are seeking a candidate interested in joining a team of 5 environmental compliance professionals, supporting Power Delivery Electric Distribution with Dominion Energy Virginia. Home office is flexible as the position requires daily travel to work sites, with the ability to work out of multiple locations on a weekly basis. Candidates should live within our electric service territory of Northern Virginia (offices include Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, Springfield, Alexandria, Fairfax and Herndon). 

Job Duties Include: 
Ensures company compliance with environmental, chemical, waste management, and permit regulations at various Dominion Energy Virginia locations and project construction sites associated with Electric Distribution in Northern Virginia. Share responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of work sites, to comply with regulatory and company Environmental, Health and Safety standards and procedures. Communicate and prepare reports for submittal internally, externally, to governmental agencies and customers. Support Dominion Energy and contracted staff, inspect, or assess, and provide recommendations regarding environmental compliance issues to personnel responsible for compliance tasks and management. Analyze data and prepare management reports on environmental compliance records. Serve as primary site coordinator with internal department and external agencies on environmental, safety or chemical management issues. Procure services or materials for the administration and implementation of environmental programs and projects, such as managing waste materials onsite, coordinating disposal, regulatory inspections, conditional use permits, and maintenance of oil and stormwater infrastructure. Provide environmental training to site personnel in handling of chemicals and waste materials, spill prevention, erosion, and sediment control and for other environmental compliance topics and requirements. Implement environmental compliance plans to address current or changing law and regulations. Responsive to planned and unplanned work occurring during and outside of typical business hours 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. Other duties assigned to support individual and team development. 


 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

•   Environmental Compliance Coordinator: 3+ years of directly related experience with a preferred Bachelor's degree (Or 5+ years of directly related experience with Associates Degree Or 7+ years of experience with High School Degree / equivalent)
•   Sr. Environmental Compliance Coordinator: 5+ years of directly related experience with a preferred Bachelor's degree (Or 7+ years of directly related experience with Associates Degree Or 9+ years of experience with High School Degree / equivalent) 

 

The required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience for this job include: 


•    Knowledge of related environmental regulations and applicable environmental requirements
•    Understanding of and ability to interpret Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC), National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Hazardous Waste and Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), Superfund and Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC).
Current certifications required include: Virginia DEQ Erosion & Sediment Inspector and Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management Inspector or equivalent state competency certifications. 
•    Strong leadership and independence necessary to develop, implement and administer complex environmental compliance plans
•    Ability to interpret and/or apply environmental requirements to company operations and translate regulatory regulations, permit and plan requirements into understandable compliance guidance
•    Ability to prepare and/or review compliance and regulatory documents and reports
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills including public speaking skills
•    Analytical and record keeping skills
•    Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel and Power Point)
•    Organizational skills and time management skills
•    Ability to work independently and in field environments

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Associate
Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Environmental Science, Enivronmental Technology, Science, Technical, Environmental,

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
