About the role: The Environmental Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all production sites within Treasury Americas portfolio meet their regulatory requirements for environmental compliance. Key environmental compliance areas this role will overseeing includes, ammonia (CalARP), drinking water, stormwater, wastewater, air pollution, hazardous waste, and other environmental regulations specific to the wine industry. The Environmental Compliance Engineer will work closely with winemaking, maintenance, sustainability, and operations teams to develop, implement, and manage environmental compliance programs that meet both regulatory requirements and support corporate sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance + Ensure compliance across the entire landscape of environmental regulations that apply to TAM wineries and production activities. + Manage and maintain required environmental permits, including but not limited to stormwater, drinking water, wastewater discharge, air emissions, ammonia, and hazardous waste disposal. + Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies, including the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), Air Resources Board (CARB), the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), California Ammonia Refrigeration Program (Cal-ARP), and the local CUPA Regulators. + Steps in to help all sites with environmental compliance needs, as required. Environmental Audits and Assessments + Conduct regular internal audits of winery operations to ensure environmental compliance. + Perform site-specific environmental risk assessments and identify areas for improvement or risk mitigation. + Monitor and document environmental performance, including water usage, waste management, air quality, and energy consumption, while always looking for ways to improve performance and conserve natural resources. Waste Management + Coordinate, track and report on both the disposal and recycling of hazardous materials in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. + Promote sustainable waste management programs through reducing, reusing and recycling items purchased and used within winery and vineyard operations. Reporting and Documentation + Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies detailing the winery’s environmental compliance activities, including emission reports, water usage reports, hazardous waste tracking, and sustainability achievements. + Maintain accurate records of all compliance activities, permits, and regulatory inspections. + Supports the maintenance function with various recordkeeping activities. Training and Education + Provide training to winery employees on environmental compliance requirements and best practice initiatives. + Ensure that all employees are informed about emergency response protocols for environmental incidents (e.g., chemical spills, ammonia, wastewater discharge, etc.). Continuous Improvement + Stay updated on changing environmental laws, industry trends, and sustainable practices in the wine industry. + Identify and evaluate new technologies or processes to improve the winery’s environmental performance. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into new product development, vineyard operations, and production processes. About you: + You have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred. + You have 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the wine or food and beverage industry. + You have strong knowledge of California environmental regulations, including CalARP, CEQA, CARB, and SWRCB regulations. + You can provide transportation across sites, and has a valid drivers’ license + You have the ability to work in outdoor vineyard environments and production facilities. + You have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying weather conditions. Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $95,000 to $120,000 per year. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of Napa, CA. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
