Environmental Compliance Specialists conduct field operations under minimal supervision at State-permitted facilities throughout the State. Overnight travel is often required. Inspectors summarize their findings in standardized format including sampling results, field measurements and treatment process effectiveness. Inspection report packages are submitted to management for review and approval. Inspectors also interface with Compliance personnel as needed in support of enforcement activities. Specialists provide technical assistance, regulatory interpretation and general water quality information to the regulated community and general public as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: Prior Experience monitoring industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities. Familiarity with water quality testing equipment such as pH & dissolved oxygen meters, etc. Exposure to ambient water quality testing, stream gauging and depth-integrated sampling. Understanding of operating principles of common automatic water sampling devices (ISCO). Grounding in wastewater treatment, i.e., screening, aeration, clarification, chlorination, etc. Experience as a water quality field inspector in a regulatory position. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, engineering, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university.
