Job Description
The successful candidate will assess projects for environmental compliance across federal, state, and local standards. This position is central to conducting environmental reviews for projects funded by the Wisconsin DOT, other federal agencies, and other grant initiatives. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to support a team of engineering professionals to improve the built environment of our communities while protecting the natural ecosystem. We will consider candidates for this position in our Spring Green, Wisconsin Rapids, Madison, or La Crosse offices. The nature of the collaborative work involved in this role may require occasional visits to our other offices.
ResponsibilitiesWork with Transportation Group to develop and manage standards and organization of reference material and templates for project oversight documents.Work with Transportation Engineers to prepare and submit all manner of transportation project oversight documents, including Environmental Documents, HMA, and Agency Coordination.Lead the documentation and conduct environmental reviews according to NEPA guidelines and other applicable regulations.Review project proposals and plans to identify potential environmental impacts.Track progress and deadlines of environmental reviews.Maintain accurate and timely environmental review records.Communicate environmental compliance updates during team meetings.Wetland Delineation and Protected Species Surveys could also be included depending on the experience of the individual.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field is required.Master’s degree is preferred.Knowledge of NEPA regulations, Wisconsin DOT environmental review requirements, and other pertinent environmental laws.Knowledge of local, state, and federal agency environmental requirements and processes.Ability to manage project requirements independently.Ability to read roadway design plans and familiarity with elements of roadway projects.Must be able to work in a team environment with staff, clients, project stakeholders, and Wisconsin DOT.Detail-oriented with the desire to produce a great product.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with relevant software.Excellent organizational ability, suited for both independent and collaborative work.Self-starter with the desire and willingness to take the lead on a task.Valid Driver’s License.Ability to meet deadlines.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Work Environment
This position can be based out of any of our offices across the state. We typically offer a hybrid schedule if needed. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
Benefits -
-\tPTO will accrue monthly at a rate of 200 hours per year. We allow employees to accrue a maximum of 400 hours. This covers vacation and sick time.
-\t8 regular holidays in addition to PTO time.
-\t401k is with TransAmerica, we match 50% of the employees contribution up to 10% of the employees salary. We also match 25% of what an employee contributes over 10% of salary up to the IRS limit.
-\tWe reimburse for education tuition and materials if the courses have been pre-approved and the employee successfully complete the class
-\tHealth care options include an option with an HSA plan, and a cafeteria plan (Jenny is out this week, but she can provide much more information on this and answer specific questions as they relate to individuals)
-\t$50/month cell phone reimbursement
-\tAnnual profit sharing for all employees that is based on overall company performance. This varies from year to year but is often from 2%-4% of base salary.
