Purpose of the Position:
The Environmental Engineer will report to the EH&S Manager and is accountable for evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining environmental programs that are consistent with applicable regulations (ISO 14001, corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) standards, internal management system standards, and industry best management practices).
Key Tasks:
Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations impacting air, water, and waste. Oversee all monitoring, reporting and recordkeeping systems for compliance assurance. Direct and guide the implementation of the environmental management system (ISO 14001 system). Execute tasks as defined in the facility’s EMS. Direct environmental assessments and resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate, and prevent non-compliance conditions and acts. Interface with a team of engineers and a variety of facility employees daily. Maintain conformance with all corporate environmental standards and expectations. Participate in development and deployment of emergency services, facility auditing, incident investigation, potential problem exploration, potential hazard assessments, risk assessments and others. Provide training on policies and procedures with the workforce to ensure uniform compliance regarding environmental initiatives. Comprehend impact of manufacturing process and equipment as it applies to environmental impacts and compliance. Comprehend environmental permit needs and data generated to prepare permits. Guide dangerous goods program for the facility. Coordinate reporting, tracking, and trends of environmental incidents. Ensure that environmental performance is conveyed to the facility employees. Provide input to Management to set short and long term goals for environmental improvements. Sponsors the EH&S Manager with the development of annual plans including goals, objectives, targets, training, audits, etc.
Work Hours:
Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm) Managing a 24/7 plant structure, so occasional off-hours work when needed.
Education & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related subject. Minimum of 3 years of environmental experience. Knowledge of EPA regulations – CAA, CWA, RCRA, SPCC, and EPCRA. Broad comprehension of environmental rules and regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Problem solving skills. Intermediate level of knowledge using standard Microsoft desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
Desired Skills:
Benchmark Gensuite data platform. SharePoint.
Soft Skills:
Strong social skills. Effective at speaking across varying payroll levels. Ability to listen to and gain process comprehension from supervisors, peers, and operators.

The range for this position is $70,047.00 - $96,315.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
