Environmental Engineer
Job Title: Environmental Engineer Job Description Coordinate and implement field project work; oversee drilling, monitoring, sampling of typical environmental media, treatment system operations, and subcontractors. Assist with the development of engineering documents including plans, calculations, specifications, and reports. Perform calibration of sampling/monitoring equipment, soil sampling, well installation, development and purging, groundwater sampling, vapor/indoor air sampling, remediation monitoring, and oversight. Prepare technical reports by coordinating figures, data tables, site descriptions, and other necessary details to ensure report completeness. Analyze field data and project work to ensure effective project completion. Responsibilities + Coordinate and implement field project work. + Oversee drilling, monitoring, sampling of environmental media, treatment system operations, and subcontractors. + Assist in the development of engineering documents, including plans, calculations, specifications, and reports. + Calibrate sampling/monitoring equipment and perform soil sampling, well installation, development and purging, groundwater sampling, vapor/indoor air sampling, and remediation monitoring. + Prepare technical reports by coordinating figures, data tables, site descriptions, and other necessary details. + Analyze field data and project work to ensure effective project completion. Essential Skills + Proficiency in environmental sampling, drilling oversight, and remediation. + Experience in environmental compliance, groundwater sampling, groundwater monitoring, and compliance monitoring. + Knowledge of environmental monitoring, GIS, and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. + Strong skills in environmental engineering, remedial investigation, and data analysis. + Proficiency in AutoCAD and HAZWOPER certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications + BS in Environmental Engineering or related degree (e.g., Civil or Chemical Engineering). + At least 1 year of environmental consulting experience, specifically within remediation. + EIT certification or ability to obtain it within the year. + Experience overseeing remedial contractors in the performance of excavation, injections, system installation, and the implementation of other remedial technologies. + GIS experience is a plus. + Ability to travel outside of IL and work in the field. + Must have a reliable means of transportation. Work Environment The individual will report to a PM in the IL office. The company operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring individuals to be in the office at least 3 days a week. This position typically requires travel out of state about one week every month. Most projects are local to Chicago, but for the first year, expect to spend about 70% of the time in the field. The company provides trucks for client sites requiring overnight travel, or allows rental cars with expenses covered. On a typical day, use of a personal vehicle is required with mileage reimbursement. The individual must have their 40-hour HAZWOPER certification prior to starting. Long-term opportunities include obtaining professional licensure and advancing to project manager. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
