Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for an Environmental Engineer/Designer to work on a variety of ecosystem restoration science and water resources engineer projects including, but not limited to urban and rural stream restoration, wetland mitigation, geomorphic assessments/studies and stormwater projects utilizing green infrastructure.  An Environmental Engineer/Designer will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of restoration engineering assignments and may assist in the analysis of proposed projects. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems for a project, and perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work.

This individual will work with a team of engineers, scientists, GIS professionals, and planners to assist with the development of studies and designs associated with ecological restoration and stormwater management projects. Your Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for projects involving stream restoration, ecosystem restoration, floodplain studies, permitting, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.
Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer. This may include field surveying, geomorphic surveys, construction oversight, etc.
Performs basic calculations to analyze and design environmental system components using specialty software packages such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, RIVERMorph, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, etc.
Perform one- and two-dimensional modeling to complete hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses
Prepare design documents, permit packages, work plans, reports, tables, and figures.
Assist with development of erosion and sediment control plans, and associated post-construction stormwater management plans.
Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Perform a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiently, and cost effectiveness.
This position is part of a larger environmental services team and will likely require support to multiple Stantec offices.  Travel will be required. Your Capabilities and Credentials
Be willing to learn new skills while conducting field work, work independently for long hours in potentially inclement weather conditions, and be flexible in undertaking work assignments.
Have excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
Understand environmental engineering concepts and effectively communicate ideas to others.
Be proficient in interpreting sketches, drawings, and other similar material.
Be conscientious, detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and disciplined.
Build and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationships within your technical team.
Good driving record and valid driver's license are required.
Typical field work environments require the ability to stand for extended periods of time on uneven terrain, lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds, and climb a ladder. Field work will include exposure to inclement weather conditions. Work assignments will be both field and office based.
Working understanding of policies and procedures for health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE), including client-specific training (as required).

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering with a focus on ecological engineering and/or geomorphology preferred.
Minimum of 0-3 years of experience.
Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) accreditation is preferred, but not required.
Experience using HEC-RAS, and AutoCAD a plus.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI Min Pay Range: $63,300 Max Pay Range: $88,600 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
