Environmental Field Technician
Job Title: Environmental Field Technician Great, family-oriented company and great opportunity to serve the community! Job Description As an Environmental Field Technician, you will be responsible for collecting and transferring various types of samples from different environments such as industrial, commercial, agricultural, and residential locations. You will use various tools to collect soil, plant tissue, and liquid samples, ensuring they are properly labeled and delivered to the laboratory for analysis. Your work will contribute to environmental and agricultural studies, and you will be expected to adhere to standard operating procedures while gathering samples at specified locations and time intervals. Responsibilities + Meet with customers at various locations to collect or pick up various types of agricultural and environmental samples. + Label sample containers with identifying data, including the location of the sample and the time collected. + Accurately complete a Chain-of-Custody form. + Set up sample compositors. + Calibrate various types of field meters and use these meters in the field while sampling. + Gather samples at specified locations and time intervals, following proper sampling techniques as stated in the Standard Operating Procedures. + Deliver samples to the laboratory for analysis. + Remove manhole covers, dip sample containers, or turn valves to obtain and transfer liquid samples from pipelines, wells, tanks, or other vessels to appropriate sample containers. + Walk over uneven surfaces, including cultivated and moderately steep slopes, using a soil auger, spade, and soil probe to collect soil samples at different depths. + Transfer solid samples such as soil, plant tissue, crystals, powder, or granular material to appropriate containers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) + one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Background in environmental field, agriculture, or environmental science. + Experience with soil sampling. Work Environment This role involves extensive driving, with over 70% of the time spent driving to various locations. You will spend a significant amount of time out in the field taking samples.
