Environmental Field Technician (Field Based)

This is an outstanding opportunity for a growing professional to advance their career with a global environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM's global strategy. ERM is hiring an Environmental Field Technician to work a project-based opportunity in Medicine Hat, Canada. In this role, you will complete post-construction monitoring field surveys of wind turbines. 

This is a part-time, (at least 30 hours a week) limited-term role with a duration of 8 months, extendable.  Training will be provided for all client-specific and site-specific safety, security, sampling and inspection procedures. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complete post-construction bird and bat mortality surveysData and information managementWalk long distances and carry heavy field equipmentPromote safety awareness and the safe performance of our workContribute to a positive, professional environment

SCHEDULE:

Three- four days per week in the field, generally during the daytime with majority of time traveling and on-siteDaily hours and duration are variable depending on the site location and work to be completed; to a maximum of 12-hour daysAccommodations will be coordinated near Medicine Hat for overnights during field shiftsWorkdays are scheduled in advance monthly to maintain survey consistencyPotential for occasional weekend and holiday field shifts

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 0-3 years of field experience requiredBachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Biological or Environmental Sciences, or related field requiredValid driver’s license and a good driving record is required; ability to drive to the various project locations.  Ability to rent a vehicle.Effective observational and organization skills; experience recording detailed technical data an asset.Effective communication skills with ERM and client staff.Proficient in basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel) for communication and preparation of inspection documentation.
