The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.** U.S. Bank is currently seeking a strong candidate to join our growing team of renewable energy finance professionals as a Business Development Associate. The candidate will assist in the marketing, acquisition and initial underwriting of loans or/and tax equity investments which will finance the installation of renewable energy property across the country. Loans and investments are made through U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation, affiliates, or subsidiaries for the purpose of accruing tax, cash, and other benefits. Candidates are expected to cultivate internal and external relationships and provide clients with tailored solutions using the entirety of U.S. Bank’s platform. The Business Development Associate is responsible for providing a broad variety of duties which would include assisting Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers in the review project proposals, analyzing complex cash flows, loan and tax investment schedules, responding to prospect inquiries, managing the business line’s tracking of pipeline volumes, and supporting various corporate and business line strategic initiatives. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** 1. Analyzes and summarizes developer-produced renewable investment proposals and models at the direction of Business Development Officers. 2. Communicates with internal partners and external customers to gather information and assists in the initial underwriting of renewable energy debt and tax equity opportunities. 3. Performs initial debt and tax equity modelling for the purpose of providing initial financing proposals. 4. Assists in the preparation of tax equity and/or debt term sheets which detail, among other things, pricing proposals, structuring considerations, conditions to funding, and the allocation of transaction risks. 5. Facilitates the transition of originated investments to other internal teams. 6. Collects information and produces bi-weekly reports related to various aspects of the renewable energy pipeline including deal prospects and credit delivery forecasting, fee estimates and expense tracking. 7. Participates in the establishment of policies, procedures and training necessary for accomplishing the group's tasks. 8. Works with internal partners in the selection and engagement of third-party professionals (attorneys, accountants, appraisers) in coordinating the drafting, collection, and review of documents and financial projections necessary to close financings. 9. On an as-needed basis, negotiates, structures, underwrites, and closes equity or debt opportunities. 10. Demonstrates fluency in credit policy and best business practices. 11. Efficiently prioritizes and completes a multitude of complex projects often on short timelines. 12. Participates in special projects as assigned. 13. Coordinates amongst underwriting, capital markets, derivatives, syndication and other product partner teams in support of lead opportunity execution 14. Willingness to travel to client facing meetings on an as-needed basis **Basic Qualifications** - Typically Bachelor's degree and six or more years of related experience OR - MBA/JD with three or more years of directly related experience **Preferred Skills/Experience** - Basic understanding of tax credit programs - Good knowledge of risk assessment and evaluating targeted returns from investments - Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously - Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to interpret data - Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office applications, financial spreadsheets, and customer relationship management systems - Related experience includes financial services and/or commercial real estate activities U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance, the tax credit and community development division of U.S. Bank, believes all people have a right to the possibilities that comes with living in a safe and vibrant community.
