Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Geologist or Environmental Scientist who will work with Stantec’s environmental services group out of our Roseville office.  The successful candidate will provide field and technical support services on a variety of projects relating to Phase I/II assessments, waste management, environmental reporting, and other environmental programs.

Your Key Responsibilities
Perform and document field data collection activities; assist in the completion of project level work (daily timesheets and work plans, data management, analyze field and technical data, and report preparation) on environmental investigation and assessment projects.
Conduct environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, ambient air, surface water, wastewater, naturally occurring asbestos, etc.), typically providing oversight of subcontractors.
Prepare appropriate health and safety documents and participate in client health and safety meetings and adhere to Stantec’s and our clients’ safety procedures.
Prepare daily summary emails and site diagrams and submit reports to online reporting systems.
Prepare work plans and technical project deliverables working under a professional geologist or professional engineer.
Learn and follow standard operation procedures for work assigned and demonstrate a clear commitment to following Stantec’s ingrained safety culture.

Your Capabilities
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.  A short technical writing practical exercise may be administered to identify candidates with appropriate writing skills.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Self-starting, conscientious, communicative, organized, and disciplined work style.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Willing to travel and able to be out-of-town for extended periods of time.
Weekend work may occasionally be required.
Experience in performing environmental field assessments.
Strong communication skills and be able to speak clearly, confidently, and effectively with subcontractors, project team members, and clients. 
Ability to understand a project’s environmental compliance needs, identify issues of non-compliance, coordinate to ensure needed corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner and follow through to ensure overall project success and compliance.

Experience, Education, and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree (minimum) with a concentration in earth science, geology, natural or environmental science, or engineering from an accredited college. 
40-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and current 8-hour annual certification. 
10-hour OSHA Construction training is beneficial, but not required. 
Current certification as a CAC or CSST is beneficial, but not required.
QSP certification is beneficial, but not required.
