Environmental Geologist/Scientist

Stantec is seeking an environmental geologist/scientist/engineer to join our team of environmental professionals.  The position will support environmental site investigation and remediation projects across the Midwest. Primary responsibilities will be performing Phase I and Phase II investigations, multimedia sampling, data evaluation, remediation operation monitoring and maintenance, remediation performance evaluation, risk evaluation, and some task management and field coordination activities.  Responsibilities are anticipated to include but are not limited to the following:

Competent field work execution including drilling oversight, remediation activities oversight, excavation oversight, and documentation of field/data collection activities Proficient in conducting multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil gas) and air monitoring Oversee advancement of soil borings, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and well development Prepare soil boring and well construction logs Technical aptitude to interpret laboratory analytical results, complete data analysis, Tier 1 risk assessments, develop figures with GIS staff, and coordination with database personnel. Some task coordination for environmental assessment and remediation activities including subcontractor safety prequalification process and logistics with laboratories, equipment vendors, and subcontractors Performance of other duties as assigned

 

Travel will be required for leading investigation and remediation activities in the field.  

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following: 

A BS/MS Degree in Geology/ Environmental Science/Engineering or related discipline Minimum of 3-5 years of experience 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper and Supervisor Training Strong commitment to safe work operations for self and others Direct experience including environmental site assessment, remediation, environmental monitoring/sampling, waste management and due diligence (RCRA experience a plus) Comfortable working independently with guidance, as needed Ability to recognize and adapt to changing conditions and priorities Analytical and problem solving skills Self-starter with a can do attitude Team player Technical writing ability   Strong organizational and communications skills Technical aptitude.  Computer skills are a must. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Valid driver's license Ability to pass drug test, background check, physical, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy

This is a growth-oriented position on a task management and professional licensure track.
