SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The EHS Coordinator supports operations in the implementation and promotion of the Safety and Environmental initiatives with the goal of attaining a Zero Injury workplace which includes adherence to the Life Saving Rules. Assist plant operations by continuously improving EHS and Regulatory compliance at the facility. The Sr. C.I.Manager fulfills the responsibilities of the role when vacant.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Maintain and manage Environmental Health & Safety Inspection Program including eyewash stations, ladders, hoists, waste accumulation, chemical storage, confined spaces and general hazard recognition.
•    Support site’s Job Safety Analysis, Employee Involvement, Emergency Preparation, and Contractor Safety Programs.  
•    Maintain and drive completion of the site’s Open Safety Action Items (Incident CAPA’s and New/Altered lists).
•    Promote EHS Communication by creating and managing visual displays of safety team initiatives, incentive program highlights, employee safety training completion, BBS participation and facility safety improvements.
•    Ensure prompt corrective actions are being met whenever unsafe conditions and unsafe acts are noted.
•    Track incident CAPA action items to completion and communicate progress throughout the process.
•    Participate in and communicate all Safety Committee activities.
•    Develop, manage, facilitate and track Employee Safety Training and Employee Engagement Programs including Hearing, PIT, First Responder and BBP.
•    Conduct periodic inspections to ensure safe work conditions are being met.  Maintain record keeping on the inspections and findings.  Take corrective actions to resolve any problems resulting from the inspections.
•    Support Maintenance Manager in implementation of Lockout/Tagout program, Fall Protection and other topics.
•    Communicate with employees on a daily basis to ensure safety awareness and practices.
•    Responsible for helping the facility develop and maintain ISO certification.
•    Responsible for reporting Key Performance Indicators.
•    Other duties as assigned.

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
EDUCATION: 
o    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or Quality Certification Preferred.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
o    Three (3) to five (5) years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o    Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is required.
o    The ability to excel in a fast paced, high-energy environment with constant interface with people.
o    Previous experience in quality required.
o    Excellent communication skills required to interact with customers, employees and other related stakeholders.
o    Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read and apply technical material including print specifications.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

o    Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
o    Frequently standing, walking and sitting.
o    Frequently required the use of hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery.
o    Frequently bend, stoop and reach.
o    Visual Acuity (VA).

o    You must report or correct any food safety or potential food safety hazard to the person who can correct it.  Adherence to policies and procedures related to quality management, safety, SQF and other regulatory guidelines communicated during your new hire orientation and defined in your SIG (formerly Scholle IPN) handbook are mandatory.
