We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of the EH&S team, assist with health and safety demands of our workforce, and contribute to the application of effective EH&S management by providing administrative task, limited technical support, and field work assistance such as safety walkthroughs, environmental audits, collecting samples, conducting trainings, and coordinating meetings. This effort will enhance internal /external customer satisfaction, ensure regulatory compliance, improve employee morale, and achieve the company’s strategic business development goals. The EHS coordinator will work in close collaboration with various departments and is expected to have exceptional presentation skills and professional judgment, as well as be self-motivated and work with considerable independence. This individual must have a positive attitude, be self-managed, and have the ability to scale with a fast-growing company. This position is based in San Carlos, or Marina, and requires travel to local Joby work sites once a month.
Responsibilities Coordinate and ensure positive cross departmental relationships Promote continuous communication within the organization Under the direction of management, schedule training, track injury and illness information, manage process improvement projects, and follow up on action items Maintain permits for fire, hazardous materials storage, hazardous waste, etc. Administer online EH&S training database and assist with instructor-led training Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EH&S presence and provide support Administer respiratory fit tests, hearing conservation program, safety shoes, and other personal protective equipment Track and maintain exposure monitor testing Maintain and update incident logs, near misses, and safety suggestions Maintain equipment inspection logs (i.e. eyewashes, emergency showers, AED, cranes, first aid cabinets, spill kits, etc.) Maintain internal audit and external inspection records as required Ability to oversee hazardous waste storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance (i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.) Coordinate with vendors for waste pickups and provide waste haul oversight Maintain, track, and file hazardous waste manifests, and weekly inspection logs Prepare applicable EH&S reports as necessary Maintain and update EH&S bulletin boards Support coordination of monthly safety and emergency response meetings Retain and track hazard assessment forms for new chemicals/equipment Update, maintain, and administer Safety Data Sheet Maintain safety PPE inventories Assist in updating the Emergency Action Plan book and accountability table Required Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, related sciences or equivalent years of relevant work experience5+ years of environmental health and safety administration experienceKnowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, and related standards and regulations Must have strong organizational, analytical skills, and follow instructions precisely Team player who enjoys a high-paced environmental and multi-faced job duties Self-starter with the ability to work independently without supervision Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a highly interactive/energetic team environment. Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (must be proficient in Excel, i.e. pivot table, chart, vlookup, logical formula) Must have the ability to maintain data confidentiality Must be flexible to ensure project completions Must wear safety shoes as part of the job when required Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances Work may require lifting up to 25 pounds. May be susceptible to outdoor weather conditions (i.e. old, heat, rain, and/or wind) Desired Safety certification (ASP, CSP, CHMM, etc.) is a plus. CPR certification is preferred. The target base pay for this position is $81,500 - $108,700/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
