The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager plays a critical leadership role in shaping a safe and compliant workplace by driving environmental health and safety initiatives. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns, implement proactive solutions, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will lead efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, deliver impactful training programs, and provide strategic insights to support operational excellence. From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Champion continuous improvement in the areas of environmental, health, and safety: 

        - Serve as a role model by upholding and promoting all company EHS standards. 

        - Build strong relationships with management and employees to foster a culture of safety. 

        - Participate in operational meetings to discuss workplace safety, environmental, and regulatory concerns. 

        - Lead Employee Safety Committee, encouraging collaboration and proactive safety measures. 

        - Promote the Safety Observation process to increase the quantity and quality of safety conversations.

        - Conduct facility inspections and audits to identify and correct potential hazards.

        - Evaluate proposed changes to layouts, processes, and equipment for health and safety implications.

        - Facilitate investigations of all injuries, illnesses, “near misses” and suggestions. 

        - Support the development and implementation of appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

Develop, implement and manage required training programs and maintain organized records and recurring due dates:

        - Deliver EHS-related training to all employees, including onboarding for new hires and annual trainings.

        - Maintain well-organized training records and ensure they are always readily available for review.

Maintain internal and external reporting processes, including accurate data collection and timely submission.Ensure the company meets compliance obligations at federal, state, and local levels: 

        - Schedule and maintain records of all required inspections and testing.

        - Submit the First Report of Injury and maintain and submit OSHA logs as required.

Manage the Contractor Safety program, ensuring proper training and ongoing monitoring for compliance.Communicate regularly with department managers about EHS-related updates, initiatives, and concerns.Stay informed about changes in laws or regulations that could impact the company’s operations and compliance.Serve as the primary emergency response coordinator for plant emergencies.Collaborate with Plant Leadership to uphold and enhance the site’s EHS compliance standards.Partner with the Corporate parent team to execute site-specific initiatives and align with division-wide EHS programs.


From your STORY to ours

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. 5+ years of proven EHS experience, with a strong preference for a background in the food manufacturing industry.  Knowledge of state, federal, and local EHS regulations, including NFPA standards.Professional certificates or licenses are preferred but not required.Knowledge of and/or experience with: OSHA General Industry Standards; Electrical Safe Work Practices; Confined Space Rescue; Powered Industrial Truck training; Blood Borne Pathogen Training.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, and policies.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.Proficiency in MS Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
