Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety Generalist Manager to join the Lighting Sector Finelite Team in Union City, CA. Responsible for managing Legrand’s EH&S program Implements and manages safety programs to provide the road map to zero injuries and world class safety performance. Ensures site compliance with OSHA, state and federal EPA regulations, and applicable ISO standards. Helps drive Legrand CSR, Corporate Social Responsibility, targets related to EH&S for logistics department.
Pay Range: $105,000 - $120,000
What Will You Do?
Manage and maintain the Company’s EH&S programs, guided by corporate EH&S policies to include sustainable improvement, prevention and compliance. Coordinate and/or facilitate programs to train employees and managers in site safety practices including new employee orientation, job instruction, etc. Maintain records of training accordingly. Utilize a strong floor presence to monitor and assess current working conditions and make recommendations for improvements. May spend up to 50% of your time working directly within the operation; performing audits, observing processes, implementing solutions, developing staff, and other action based roles.Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s) to identify potential hazards and recommend safe work practices.Address unsafe acts, conditions, hazards and environmental risks; communicate issues and remediation steps with site leadership.Implement and oversee the site’s ISO 14001 environmental management processes and ISO 45001 occupational safety and health management systems, ensuring all audit and ongoing certification requirements are met.Manage site Safety Committee; provide guidance and direction in monthly meeting agenda, oversee safety inspection process, and ensure prompt and thorough follow up on all open items and safety task lists.Create content and ensure the delivery of safety talks to be conducted by department leads and supervsors; monitor participation and understanding of material.Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action plans.Analyze data to identify workplace injury/incident trends and take appropriate remediation steps.Develop and manage ergonomic work initiatives to ensure ongoing ergonomic assessments, evaluations, and continuous improvement processes to reduce work/job-related trauma.Implement training programs in accordance with OSHA, federal and state EPA, and ISO certification requirements.Assist business in meeting corporate sustainability and environmental metrics related to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) goals.Provide direction to plant management on EH&S budget needs and policies.Drive environmental programs related to energy, air, waste, and waste water.Support HR Manager in all Workers’ Compensation-related injuries/illnesses, focusing on workplace safety, accident prevention and ergonomics program. Direct, lead and motivate facility personnel to achieve EH&S goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner. Create a team atmosphere where all leaders are encouraged to actively participate and support safety and environmental goals.Facilitate and lead training events, EH&S activities, process improvements, visual controls and other ad hoc programs as appropriate. Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.Ensure that EH&S compliance requirements are met by managing measurements and metrics, reporting, analysis, follow up and record keeping as mandated. Align corporate and local EH&S goals and strategies, leading conintuous improvement initiatives related to EH&S policies and programs. QualificationsRequired Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline. Other degrees supported by certifications or training program completions will be considered.Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience focused on EH&S, preferably in a lean manufacturing or distribution environment. Experience ensuring compliance with Local, Federal, State and OSHA regulations. Experience with ISO 14001/45001. Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail.Competent in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis.Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities as well as to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization. Ability to create a team approach to EH&S across facilities.Able to work independently as well as within a variety of teams.Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.Must have good verbal and written communications skills, and be able to create effective reports and business correspondence.Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
