Essential Responsibilities:
Mentor, train and coach Environmental personnel on siteResponsible for implementation of Environmental program on project site(s)Perform field inspections; erosion and sedimentation controls, turbidity monitoring, noise and vibration, air quality, soil management, groundwater and stormwater management, invasive species monitoring, Tree Cut Permitting, Conservation Authority, and Permit to Take Water/Environmental Activity Sector Registry PermittingReview inspection and testing results for compliance with requirements and coordinate resources to ensure timely support for operational needsEnsure all Inspection and Testing equipment is managed in accordance with the equipment calibration requirementsCollaborate with Operations and provide input on the Quality requirements for the development of Detailed Execution Plans; clearly identifying the required inspections, hold points, tests and required documentationUnderstand and interpret applicable contract documents, codes of construction and regulatory standardsEnsure non-conforming work is being managed in accordance with the project quality issues reporting proceduresManage and maintain Quality Document LogsEffectively communicates revisions to drawings, codes, and/or specificationsUtilize scientifically approved dispersion models (e.g., CAL4HQC, CAL3HQCR) and vehicle emission models (e.g., MOVES) to analyze and interpret environmental dataReviews, reports, and act on performance metricsQualifications
5+ years of experience with experience in groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise, and vibration and permitting process3+ years of construction rail-based experience in developing ESC plans, inspections, corrections, etc.Possesses a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemical, civil or Environmental engineering Proficiency in Construction Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspections (CAN-CISEC certification preferred) and familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemsStrong understanding of construction processes, including excavation, trenching, Environmental Site Assessments, concrete washout management, piling, structural erection, and earthworks.Experience in predicting greenhouse gas emissions implications of transportation alternatives and designing air quality impact mitigationExtensive technical knowledge of environmental standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesExperience in the identification and evaluation of Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation 278/05, Ontario Regulation 490/09, Regulation 860 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario), Regulation 347 made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario); and Regulation 362 Waste Management – PCB’s made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario)Work Conditions
Site & Office based position. You will be required to work out of the downtown Toronto head office from Monday to Friday until project is in construction phase, mid-2025.
