Program Overview:
Our Environmental and Wastewater Management Training Program is designed to cultivate future leaders in environmental sustainability and wastewater management by providing hands-on experience across key areas of our operations. This structured 6-month program offers broad exposure to the different facets of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and wastewater treatment processes, culminating in a high-impact capstone project. We offer two cohorts of trainees annually, with one class starting in January and the other in July.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months – Rotational Experience:During the first three months, trainees will rotate through critical environmental and wastewater management departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of our environmental practices and regulatory compliance. Trainees will be exposed to: Wastewater Treatment Operations Environmental Compliance and Regulation Sustainability Initiatives Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Research and Development for Environmental Solutions Procurement and Resource Management
The goal is to provide a holistic view of how these departments work together to ensure environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices within the organization.
Last 3 Months – Capstone Project:In the final three months, each trainee will focus on a specific area within environmental management or wastewater treatment. They will be tasked with developing and executing a capstone project that addresses a key environmental challenge or opportunity within their department. This project will culminate in a presentation to senior leadership, showcasing innovative solutions for enhancing sustainability or improving wastewater treatment processes.
Post-Program Placement:
Upon completion of the 6-month program, trainees will be placed in available positions within the environmental and wastewater management field. If no position is immediately available, the trainee will continue working in their current capacity until a suitable role is found. Trainees will be considered for roles such as Environmental Compliance Auditor, Wastewater Treatment Operator, and similar positions within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in hands-on training across various environmental and wastewater management functions Engage with cross-functional teams to understand environmental workflows, regulatory requirements, and best practices Collaborate with department leaders to identify and work on strategic environmental initiatives Design, develop, and present a capstone project focused on improving environmental practices or wastewater management Build relationships with employees across departments and actively contribute to the company’s sustainability culture Attend workshops on environmental leadership and professional development to enhance personal and professional skills Complete environmental assessments and compliance reports as requiredOther duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Recent graduate with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Wastewater Management, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field Strong interest in a career in environmental and wastewater management Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, environmentally-focused environment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting A proactive approach to work, with a high degree of ownership and accountability Must be willing to travel to different facilities throughout the program (DE & NC)Program Benefits:
