Essential Responsibilities

Manage all environmental issues associated with the Project on a day-to-day basis, including overseeing the environmental monitoring and follow-up program in accordance with the Environmental Reference Documents, Environmental Law and any applicable Permits, Licenses, Approvals and AgreementsEstablish and maintain working relationships for liaising with relevant Government Authorities and Stakeholders on all matters related to environmental management and sustainabilityFile or submit required reports to any Government Authority as requiredEnsure effective implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) inclusive of the commitments herein, from the Environmental Assessment and Permits, Licenses, Approvals and AgreementsCooperate with and promptly provide Project Representatives with written documentation or authorizations required for any inquiries from Governmental Authority relating to the Construction Manager’s compliance with Environmental Law or Permits, Licenses, Approvals and Agreements relating to environmental matters on the projectCoordinate all activities that demonstrate to the Construction Manager and Project Representative that all Environmental Commitments have been satisfiedManage the preparation and submission of all plans, reports, documents, and other information requiredUtilize scientifically approved dispersion models (e.g., CAL4HQC, CAL3HQCR) and vehicle emission models (e.g., MOVES) to analyze and interpret environmental dataAct as lead for authorization on behalf of the Construction Manager before the release of new or amended plan, report, or document

Qualifications

Extensive technical knowledge of environmental standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, with 10+ years of relevant experiencePossesses a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemical, civil or Environmental engineeringProficiency in Construction Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspections (CAN-CISEC certification preferred) and familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems10+ years of experience with experience with groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise, and vibration and permitting process5+ years in a mentorship or leadership role, with proven ability to guide teams and coordinate inspections of offsite suppliers and subcontractorsExperience with excess soil management and reportingStrong understanding of construction processes, including excavation, trenching, Environmental Site Assessments, concrete washout management, piling, structural erection, and earthworks.Experience in predicting greenhouse gas emissions implications of transportation alternatives and designing air quality impact mitigationExperience in the identification and evaluation of Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation 278/05, Ontario Regulation 490/09, Regulation 860 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario), Regulation 347 made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario); and Regulation 362 Waste Management – PCB’s made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario)Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in stakeholder engagement

Work Conditions

Site & Office based position. You will be required to work out of the downtown Toronto head office from Monday to Friday until project is in construction phase, mid-2025.  Once on site, you will be required to work full-time on site in the Durham RegionOccasional travel to downtown Toronto office will be required for the duration of the projectField responsibilities throughout the year in varying weather and site conditionsAvailability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or nights
