Annual Wage Range: $108,212.00 - $148,791.50

Job Description
W.R. Grace is seeking a dedicated Environmental Manager to join our team at the Curtis Bay 24/7 plant site. This role reports directly to the Environmental Health, Safety (EHS), and Security Manager. The position follows a Monday to Friday, day-shift schedule. The Environmental Manager is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of programs supporting local, state, and regulatory requirements for Environmental Compliance (EPA, MDE). This role provides direct supervision to the Environmental Engineer and the Waste Reclamation Plant Supervisor in support of Conduct of Operations and Operational Readiness, including Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Environmental Compliance. Currently, this position oversees all environmental (Title V, NPDES, SWPPP, Oil Management) permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including the Curtis Bay landfill operations.
The Curtis Bay plant, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is W. R. Grace’s largest manufacturing site. Operational since the early 1900s, this facility spans approximately 260 acres and employs around 700 people. The plant produces a variety of chemical products, including fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. These products are essential in industries such as fuel, plastics, food, beverages, biofuels, coatings, and pharmaceuticals.
ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with other members of the EHSS Management team, develop metrics to track Environmental Management system maturity. Oversee all environmental (Title V, NPDES, SWPPP, Oil Management) permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including the Curtis Bay landfill operations. Manage the Emergency Response program at the site, maintaining relationships with external resources through the South Baltimore Industrial Mutual Aid Plan (SBIMAP) and the local fire department. Identify and implement sustainability opportunities, which will become increasingly important in the coming years. Supervise the Site Security Services at the facility. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Conduct risk assessments (HIRA) and develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks. Lead and participate in environmental audits and inspections. Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental policies and procedures. Collaborate with other departments to integrate environmental considerations into operational decisions. Physical Requirements and Environment Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, chemical industry, or related field. Direct EHS-related experience. In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations at local and federal levels. Ability to work effectively both individually and within a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to make data-driven decisions. High level of personal motivation, with a drive for ownership and accountability. Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization. Ability to travel periodically to corporate office and other Grace manufacturing sites may be required - up to 15%. Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, chemical industry, or related field. Certification in DOT Hazmat. Supervisory and leadership experience. Experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, particularly in air, water, and waste permitting.
