Your Opportunity
We are actively seeking an Environmental or Civil Project Engineer with experience in ecological and hydrological restoration, water resource projects, stormwater and community resiliency and/or related civil works projects to be a member of our multi-disciplinary team preferably within our Sarasota, Florida office. Stantec is open to Tampa, Florida and Fort Myers, Florida as alternative office locations.
In this position, you will be an integral part of our established and talented team, helping to lead the growth of our team in south Florida. Key responsibility will include assisting with modeling, engineering, and design efforts for a range of project types, assisting with project management, and mentoring junior staff while working collaboratively to deliver quality projects for our clients.

Your Key Responsibilities
Lead in the engineering and design, and implementation of small to large scale ecological and hydrological restoration, stormwater and community resiliency, and related civil engineering and design projects, of varying degrees of complexity, through all phases of a project lifecycle. Schedule, conduct, coordinate, and monitor field work for projects, in both an urban and rural setting. Assist or lead multi-disciplinary teams in the preparation of technical drawings, plan sets, technical specifications, and reports. Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, local subconsultants and partner firms. Assist or lead in the development of proposals and contract negotiation. Assist or lead in the development of project scopes, budgets, and design approach for projects. Assist in leading in the recruitment, mentoring and inspiration of staffYour Capabilities and Credentials
Experience working with CADD and/or Civil3D Experience with AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, ICPR, BMP Trains, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS, is a major plus. Experience with designing ecological and hydrological restoration projects, including coastal, estuarine, aquatic, and/or wetlands restoration projects. Experience with community resiliency projects, such as adaptive stormwater management, LID design, green infrastructure, and similar projects. Working knowledge of hydrology, stormwater management, and water quality issues. Experience serving as a member of and/or leading multi-disciplinary teams during all phases of project document production. Experience with the preparation of plans, technical specifications, schedules for detailed phases of engineering work and interacting directly with clients. Experience with the preparation of cost and project estimates, job budgets and schedules. Familiarity with the FDEP, SWFWMD and USACE permitting process and environmental regulations. Experience in wetland delineation/mitigation design, a plus. Experience with stream restoration projects using Natural Channel Design techniques, is a plus. Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Coastal, Civil or Environmental Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or a Licensed Professional Engineer by another state with the ability to obtain a Florida PE License within 6 months of hiring. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience which must include relevant experience in an engineering role in wetland restoration, parks and recreation, civil, water resource and/or stormwater management projects.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
