Incorporated in 2011, North Wind Resource Consulting’s core capabilities include environmental documentation and permitting; natural and cultural resource surveys; wildlife and botanical expertise; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical services; historic and prehistoric surveys; environmental consultation such as Section 106 for cultural resources, Section 404 for wetlands, and Section 7 for endangered species); and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping capabilities. North Wind Resource Consulting maintains offices across the country.

POSITION PURPOSE:
This person will work closely with the project manager and a GIS analyst to complete all aspects of the NEPA process. Tasks will include limited travel for project kickoff meetings and site visits. The position will involve identifying and querying online databases for information regarding proposed project sites and surrounding areas. Writing tasks will include documenting the existing environment and preparing a clear analysis of environmental consequences. The work will typically be five eight-hour days per week but may vary during infrequent field visits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs, or policies.Reviews and assists with evaluating proposals and site plans for conformance with myriad codes, plans, and regulations.Collects a variety of information/data/graphics on topics such as socioeconomics, land use/cover, natural and cultural resources, and transportation/traffic; effectively organizes and maintains information/data/graphics.Reads, comprehends, and summarizes scientific and technical documents/studies/reports/plans/etc. with brevity and accuracy.Minimizes errors in grammar and format in accordance with direction/guidance.Conducts field evaluations and assessments under direct supervision.Reviews and resolves internal and external document review comments or issues.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares information in support of public involvement activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

Minimum one year of experience writing NEPA documents.
BS/BA in Environmental Science, Policy and Planning, Natural Resources, or related field.

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated research, writing, verbal, and organization skills.Proficiency in word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Special Requirements:

Candidate must be able to travel and willing to participate in light field work.Candidate must have a valid driver's license.Writing sample(s) (up to three) and college transcripts required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

2-3 Years of experience writing NEPA documents.Three years post-graduation experience in the field.
Master’s degree in environmental science, engineering, policy and planning, natural resources, or related field.40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.First Aid / CPR training.Positive, resilient, self-starter with an ability to quickly learn on the job, adapt to changing circumstances, and effectively interface with internal and external project team participants.Team player that demonstrates professionalism and accountability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Infrequent light field work (walking through woods, wetlands, and open areas) throughout all seasons.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily indoor office environment with infrequent light field work.
