This Opportunity
WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time **Environmental Planner** for our **Anchorage, Alaska Office** .
Seeking an environmental planner to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental documentation, permitting, research, writing, and management for infrastructure projects primarily in Alaska and the northwest United States. The planner’s tasks may include: conducting research, documenting natural resources, and preparing environmental documents to ensure projects (e.g., infrastructure development, maintenance, and repair activities) are in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The environmental planner would coordinate with WSP experts, clients, project engineers, agency representatives, and stakeholders while synthesizing data from technical and resource reports, public databases, NEPA documents, design documents and other sources. An environmental planner may also be involved in public involvement aspects of environmental planning that include writing public involvement plans (PIPs) and performing associated tasks such as producing informational materials and documenting and responding to agency, stakeholder, and public comments.
Your Impact
+ Collect, identify, and compile environmental and technical data, primarily from desktop sources
+ Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation
+ Assist technical staff and project managers with environmental documentation
+ Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work
+ Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of permitting
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ 3-5 years of demonstrated work experience in an environmental-related field
+ Excellent writing skills and experience with technical writing
+ Bachelor’s Degree preferably with a focus in science, policy, and/or writing
+ Relevant degrees may include: urban planning, natural sciences, environmental studies, public policy, land use planning, law, natural resources management, public administration, conservation, or a related field
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
+ Demonstrated past successes working independently and as part of a team
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally
+ Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Local experience: Knowledge of and experience with living and working in Alaska AND/OR
+ NEPA experience: Familiar with relevant environmental laws and regulations AND/OR
+ Public involvement: Experience with coordinating and facilitating public/agency meetings, writing newsletters/fact sheets/news releases, developing mailing lists, preparing public communication plans, or knowledge of public planning methods and communication techniques AND/OR
+ Environmental policy technical expertise: Experience and knowledge in a broad range of technical and regulatory requirements, specifically with an understanding of NEPA AND/OR
+ Environmental permitting: Experience obtaining environmental permits for infrastructure projects with local, state, and federal agencies

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $64,000-$109,780
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
