Environmental Project Manager
POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide.
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Project Manager for full-time employment in support of our Project Management Department. This position will be located in the Richmond, Virginia office with the ability to work in a hybrid setting, a combination of office and home.
Roles and Responsibilities
The primary focus for this Environmental Project Manager will be business development and leading and mentoring teams on electric transmission line and substation routing and siting and renewables projects in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, and other surrounding Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern states. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and responsive professional, with strong communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
Managing and directing multiple routing/siting studies, analyses, and associated reports Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts Client coordination including project scope, schedule, and budget and forecasting Attending and participating in open houses and public meetings Providing strategic advice and direction on state filing requirements Managing preparation of Kentucky Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Virginia State Corporate Commission (SCC), and North Carolina Utilities Commission applications. Leading and supporting business development efforts including proposals and presentations Developing and maintaining client relationships Up to 25% of travel is expectedRequired Education/Experience
B.S. or B.A. in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related degree Minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience in A/E consulting Experience in Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern states with expertise in siting/routing, environmental planning and analysis, state applications, and public involvement Extensive knowledge and demonstrated expertise in federal and state environmental policy and regulations Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, communicating with clients and project staffPreferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related degree Fifteen (15) + years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning studies for energy projects including pipelines, electrical transmission, renewable generation and land development Candidates must have a strong interest and passion to engage in activities necessary to generate business and develop new business leads Demonstrated success in growing client portfolios, recruiting, and managing staff is preferred Project Management Professional certification; other professional certifications as applicable to technical expertise Experience preparing applications for submittal to the Virginia State Corporate Commission (SCC), Kentucky Public Utilities Commission (PUC), North Carolina Utilities Commission Experience preparing and providing expert witness testimonyAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
