We actively strive to channel our highly engaged employee’s knowledge, critical thinking, innovative solutions for our clients. **Responsibilities** + Provide expert, authoritative advice and analysis on areas that involve coordinating and evaluating public policy on climate change affecting all aspects of transportation, legislative and regulatory proposals affecting these areas + Conduct studies and analyses, research and develop requirements, and draft or review guidance and policy statements related to climate change + Provide expertise on the development, coordination, and evaluation of climate policy affecting all aspects of transportation + Provide support for developing and coordinating policies and programs related to climate policy within DOT, and in relation to other federal agencies + Conduct reviews of case studies and reports on climate policy and proposals to determine the impact on proposed policy recommendations. + Prepare briefings of policy recommendations for review, consideration, and approval by the Director and the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy. + Conduct research on environmental issues in transportation; specifically, greenhouse gas emissions, reduction strategies, climate change impacts and consequences. + Work with modal administrations to adopt innovative environmental partnerships. + Support Departmental efforts on climate change to ensure consistency with existing environmental laws and regulations while exploring innovative new strategies for transportation project development and delivery. + Evaluate program functions, policy initiatives, and studies related to climate policy. The studies involve analyzing and formulating Departmental policies, plans, and guidelines related to climate policy affecting all aspects of transportation. + Advise the Director and the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy, the Under Secretary for Policy, and the Secretary regarding climate change and related policy issues affecting the transportation sector. + Analyze and determine the application of appropriate domestic and international infrastructure legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, proposals, and technology in the transportation sector. + Provides direction and/or advice to the Director on key decision points and helps to ensure that policy decisions, strategic plans and reports are accurate, timely, and adequately documented. **Qualifications** + Bachelor of Science Degree + Five (5) years applying progressively responsible and in-depth principles, concepts, and practices related to environmental impact on program activities. + Mastery of the environmental protection field sufficient to serve as a subject matter expert. + Comprehensive knowledge of environmental program requirements, federal policies, and procedures. + Expert skill in providing support of environmental programs to ensure compliance on a range of subject matter areas, to include air, water, and land pollution; noise pollution; hazardous waste management and disposal; environmental cleanup; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation; environmental management research and development; Environmental Quality Awards; and environmental training. _Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_ + Expert knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods to assess and improve the environmental program. + Expert skill in designing and conducting strategic program studies, which may be characterized by very broad or changing parameters to function as technical authority for these programs. + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to convey complex information to a broad audience, including top-level agency officials. _Final salary determination based on skill-set, qualifications, and approved funding._ Many of our jobs come with great benefits – Some offerings are dependent upon the role, work schedule, or location, and may include the following: **Paid Time Off** PTO / Vacation – 5.67 hours accrued per pay period / 136 hours accrued annually Paid Holidays - 11 California residents receive an additional 24 hours of sick leave a year **Health & Wellness** Medical Dental Vision Prescription Employee Assistance Program Short- & Long-Term Disability Life and AD&D Insurance **Spending Account** Flexible Spending Account Health Savings Account Health Reimbursement Account Dependent Care Spending Account Commuter Benefits **Retirement** 401k / 401a **Voluntary Benefits** Hospital Indemnity Critical Illness Accident Insurance Pet Insurance Legal Insurance ID Theft Protection **Teleworking Permitted?** Yes **Teleworking Details** Currently Fully Remote but can change depending on the needs of the government **Estimated Salary/Wage** USD $131,000.00/Yr.
