Summary About the Position: This position is located in Arlington, Virginia. Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums. Responsibilities Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-Income Population. Analyze current and projected requirements for assigned environmental region. Implement the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard practice for conducting Environmental Baseline Surveys and Environmental Site Assessments. Review construction project requirements during the current and upcoming fiscal years. Review National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, including Record of Environmental Consideration (RECs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: maintaining and updating environmental program databases; tracking environmental projects to ensure compliance; assisting with the preparation and/or review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Environmental Condition of Property (ECOP) documents; updating program guidance documents and materials, such as monthly newsletters; AND presenting training material to mid- to high-level medium to large audiences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes: implementing environmental policies and guidance, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); developing plans for environmental program integration; preparing NEPA and Environmental Condition of Property (ECOP) documents; developing and updating program guidance documents and materials, such as monthly newsletters; AND developing and presenting training material to mid- to high-level medium to large audiences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
