Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. a Davey Company, is seeking a full-time Mid/Senior level Environmental Regulatory Specialist to join our energetic team in based in Gainesville, Virginia with the opportunity for flexible schedule and remote/hybrid work. This position is focused on Clean Water Act Section 401/404 regulations and permitting for land development projects. Ultimately this position serves as a liaison between federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and clients for permit procurement. Experience working with a diverse client base in both public and private sectors, as well as the ability to work independently and with a team is a must.

Management of multiple complex projects

Preparation of various reports and applications with limited supervision

Review plans and environmental resources mapping to prepare permitting strategies

Complete State and Federal Endangered and Threatened Species database searches.

Effectively and professionally communicate with project team members, regulatory agencies, and clients

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Perform field investigations and accurately documenting findings

Ability to attend in-person meetings, trainings, and networking events

Qualifications

Qualification - Required

Professional experience with environmental regulations pertaining to 401/404 Clean Water Act and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act

Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, science, policy, or a related discipline

Strong oral and written communications skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision

Qualifications - Preferred Skills

Knowledge of NEPA, FEMA or FERC regulations, and local land development practices/goals are a plus 

Professional environmental certifications are a plus

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS

Creative and adaptive problem solving
