As a candidate, you are encouraged to ask compensation related questions and have an open dialogue with your recruiter who can provide you more specific details for this role. **Line of Business:** Risk Management **Job Description:** The Environmental Risk Officer II provides complex environmental risk reviews for the Company, serving as an expert resource. Reviews, interprets, and evaluates complex environmental reports received from environmental consultants. Prepares analysis and issues review documentation to assist commercial lenders in making informed loan decisions. Develops or recommends optimal risk management strategies. Prepares analysis and issues review documentation to workout officers and facilities managers. **Depth & Scope:** + Reviews, evaluates, and interprets the most complex environmental due diligence reports by environmental consultants on collateral property + Participates in conference calls with Customers as necessary and in coordination with Lender to better understand environmental risk presented by collateral, Customer's proposed course of action, and to communicate the bank's concerns regarding environmental risk + Evaluates and quantifies any potential environmental issues related to the property and impact on risk or liability to the Company; Scopes and reviews Phase II site investigations + Ensures consultant's reports adequately identify environmental risks at site + Makes preliminary recommendations to commercial loan officers based on knowledge of prevalent issues + Interprets Company policies, environmental regulations, and reports received from environmental consultants and testing labs to assist in evaluating environmental risk + Develops risk management options and strategies. Discusses issues and risk management options with commercial loan officer and assists in the development of plans to implement risk assessment or reduction, including detailed site investigation and remediation + Monitors emerging environmental risk in regulatory and industrial arenas and recommends measures or policies for approval and implementation by Company to appropriately manage these risks + Acts as a consultant throughout the Company on environmental issues + Maintains a current knowledge of applicable environmental assessment and remediation techniques and technologies + Assists Environmental Risk Manager in developing processes to effectively implement Company's environmental risk management policies + Researches information regarding environmental regulations within assigned areas, consulting with internal environmental risk officers, external sources, and legal counsel, as appropriate. + Coordinates with outside legal counsel regarding environmental matters pertinent to pending transactions + Develops and maintains knowledge of prevalent environmental issues within assigned areas to improve analytical efficiency and effectiveness + Reviews past evaluations and reports from vendors as well as evaluates vendor methodologies and practices to assist in determining vendor suitability for Company use + Assists Environmental Risk Manager in developing and providing training to Company personnel on Company environmental policies and procedures and in the technical aspects of environmental inspections **Education & Experience:** + Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent to Bachelor's degree required + Specialized knowledge of environmental risk assessment principles and practices including environmental due diligence + Strong analytical skills + Thorough knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements with specific knowledge relevant to assigned areas, or territories + Excellent communication skills + Excellent problem solving and investigative skills + Knowledge of commercial lending **Preferred Qualifications:** + Applicant must meet the definition of an Environmental Professional. + Knowledge of ASTM E1527-21, and US SBA SOP. + Proficient user of Word. + Experienced bank environmental risk officer **Physical Requirements:** Never: 0%; Occasional: 1-33%; Frequent: 34-66%; Continuous: 67-100% + Domestic Travel – Occasional + International Travel – Never + Performing sedentary work – Continuous + Performing multiple tasks – Continuous + Operating standard office equipment - Continuous + Responding quickly to sounds – Occasional + Sitting – Continuous + Standing – Occasional + Walking – Occasional + Moving safely in confined spaces – Occasional + Lifting/Carrying (under 25 lbs.) – Occasional + Lifting/Carrying (over 25 lbs.) – Never + Squatting – Occasional + Bending – Occasional + Kneeling – Never + Crawling – Never + Climbing – Never + Reaching overhead – Never + Reaching forward – Occasional + Pushing – Never + Pulling – Never \#LinkedIn + Twisting – Never + Concentrating for long periods of time – Continuous + Applying common sense to deal with problems involving standardized situations – Continuous + Reading, writing and comprehending instructions – Continuous + Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing – Continuous The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
