Experience should encompass working to promote safe operations on construction sites. The incumbent will assist with the management of several OSHA programs such as: + Trenching and Excavation + Fall Protection and Prevention + Permit Required Confined Space Entry + Walking Working Surfaces + PPE + Hearing Conservation + Respiratory Protection + Other safety programs as assigned. These programs may require certification that will be provided by MSD if not already obtained. Additionally, the employee will establish a field presence in MSD’s Engineering and Collection operating divisions to provide safety guidance and minimize injuries. The incumbent will support MSD’s Engineering Division by driving continuous improvement through reviewing and auditing construction site safety plans provided by contractors for OSHA compliance and performing site visits with MSD inspectors to support them in ensuring safe operations on MSD construction sites. They will also support MSD’s Collection Division by auditing and improving safe field operations of trenching and excavation crews. The incumbent will also deliver established training for the aforementioned OSHA programs. Minimum Qualifications (KSAs) (Illustrative only. Knowledge of: Biology, chemistry, physics as they apply to environmental management and/or health and safety. Principles and practices of environmental management and/or health and safety management. Research and investigation techniques and principles. City facilities, equipment, materials, and job functions. Statistical principles and methods. English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations pertaining to environmental management and/or health and safety. Skill to: Operate computers, monitors, and various instruments in the performance of the job. Operate assigned vehicle in the course of duty. Ability to: Recommend and implement goals, policies, and procedures for providing effective and efficient environmental or health and safety practice within assigned departments. Prepare clear and concise analytical and statistical reports. Inspect moderately complex city facilities, equipment, materials, and employee work practices to determine unsafe conditions or environmental problems Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Recognize hazards and respond with plausible solutions. Supplemental Life, Long Term Disability, Accident & Critical Illness Insurance Most full time City employees are eligible to participate in a supplemental life insurance program, a long term disability plan, and accident and critical illness insurance programs at their own expense. Flexible Benefits Plans Healthcare Flex Spending Account City employees can participate in the Healthcare Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay out-of-pocket medical, prescription, dental, and vision care expenses for employees and family members. Dependent Care Flex Spending Account City employees can participate in a Dependent Care Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay work-related dependent care expenses. Participants can set aside money each year through pre-tax payroll deductions to pay for these expenses. Retirement Plan The City provides a defined benefit pension plan for part-time and full-timeemployees. New hires and re-hired employees are required to participate in the City of Cincinnati's Retirement System (CRS), regardless of previous participation in an Ohio State pension system or any another state or federal pension system. CRS is funded by employer and employee contributions, and investment returns from plan assets. CRS provides retirement and health care benefits subject to eligibility requirements.
