Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist for our Madison Heights, MI location to provide support on a variety of complex and interesting environmental projects, including emergency response with on-call support and significant travel opportunities. This position involves providing technical support in the areas of emergency response, environmental investigation, brownfields, and remediation throughout the Midwest.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain on-call readiness to handle emergency responses and provide remedial and restoration guidance/solutions.Conduct multi-media environmental sampling, field audits, and inspections.Organize and review data, prepare reports, and review records.Collect air monitoring data and provide training and exercise support.Oversee contractors and related activities.Manage tasks and projects, conduct training presentations, and prepare statements of qualifications and proposals.Provide consulting services for various government and private sector clients.Gain valuable data collection experience in the field and prepare detailed analysis of field data and project reports.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, environmental or civil engineering, or a related field.40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (active or willing to obtain before starting).2+ years of environmental consulting experience.2+ years of field sampling experience for soil, surface water, air sampling, remediation oversight.Valid driver's license.Experience working outdoors and in manual labor positions.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to travel 50-75% of the time in the Midwest.Ability to be on call 1-2 weeks per month.Additional Skills & QualificationsAir monitoring experience.Asbestos/Industrial Hygiene experience.5+ years of experience.Experience with emergency response projects.Experience on Superfund site projects.Work Environment
The candidate will be using their own vehicle for travel, with equipment provided. The Madison Heights office has 8 individuals, including 2 supervisors. This office primarily supports the START Contract and is one of the most self-sustaining satellite offices. The role involves traveling up to 75% of the time, potentially to any state in the Midwest. A typical work week is 40-50 hours, and the candidate will be on call 1-2 weeks per month. The position offers a salaried contract with straight time pay for any hours worked over 40 per week.
