Job Title: Environmental Scientist and Asbestos Investigator
Job Description
As an Environmental Scientist and Asbestos Investigator, you will be engaged in a diverse range of projects and field work assignments. You will provide both field work and office support for site investigations and environmental inspections. Under the guidance of Senior Project Manager staff, you will assist in field work tasks for ongoing projects throughout the five boroughs, as well as in the preparation of project planning documents, data evaluation, and report preparation. You will work efficiently both individually and overseeing a team of inspectors ensuring that all contractual and regulatory deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct thorough asbestos inspections and surveys in various types of buildings and structures.
+ Collect and analyze samples to determine the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).
+ Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, including the location, condition, and quantity of ACMs.
+ Develop and implement asbestos management plans and abatement strategies.
+ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding asbestos handling and disposal.
+ Collaborate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success.
+ Provide training and guidance to team members on asbestos safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in asbestos investigation and management.
+ Certified Asbestos Inspector (CAI) and Asbestos Project Monitor (APM) certifications required.
+ Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local asbestos regulations.
+ Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites within NYC
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working with clients and subcontractors.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team.
Work Environment
You will be part of a team consisting of 10-15 Environmental Scientists and Inspectors. This field-based position involves working on projects throughout New York City and the five boroughs, primarily reporting to the Senior Project Manager and Operations Manager. You will work on NYC Agency projects, engaging in investigations and overseeing field personnel. The office is located in Midtown, New York, fostering a fun culture with opportunities for growth, learning from experienced associate staff, and participating in social outings and happy hours. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $55.00
