Role and Responsibilities:

Tetra Tech is seeking part-time scientists, biologists, geologist, engineers, and technicians with 2+ years of experience to provide support on a variety of environmental projects and programs that are managed out of the Cincinnati Area Operation. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements.   Projects include: Post-disaster remediation; Emergency response; Superfund removal actions; Remedial action sites; Orphaned well plugging and assessment; Due diligence (Phase 1 and Phase II) assessments, and; Lead based paint and asbestos assessments. 

 The tasks involved within these projects includes:

Multimedia sampling (including air) Oversight of operations, including the preparation of reports and tables, reviewing of data, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, file reviews, collection of air monitoring data, training and exercise support, contractor oversight, and related services.   Working with other government and private sector clients in these areas is also possible. Work will include being mobilized to areas in the U.S. where the project support is needed, with mobilizations lasting a minimum of 30 days.  The position is 100% in the field. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements.   All work is done in teams of two (2), reporting through incident command system.   Tetra Tech will provide travel, per diem, and housing accommodations when on travel, unless staff are local to the site. Full relocation will not be necessary.

This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Qualifications:

A B.A/B.S. in science, engineering, geologym, or biology is preferred, but not required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 2 years of experience is required in environmental sampling / consulting or related field.  

Candidates should have experience in the following: Multimedia sampling and field work experience preferred. Experience with remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, water resources desirable. GIS data analysis and geostatistics, coding (VBA, Python, etc.), and data management skills a plus. Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. A 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Candidate must be able to lift and carry roughly 35 pounds of field sampling and other equipment and meet the physical demands of hazardous waste sit work.
This position is 100% in the field.  Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements.
Work will consist of working 6-7 days a week, including weekends, 10 – 12 hour work days, and will average 50 – 60 hours per week. Candidate must be able to mobilize for a minimum of 3 weeks / 30 days. Candidates are expected to work in all weather conditions and seasons, both hot and cold, and walk on uneven terrain when necessary. The Salary Range for this position is $25.00/hour to $32.00/hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
