ABOUT THE POSITION
Environmental Scientist
VHB’s growing I64 team is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our Water Resources team. You will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from site to watershed scale. Projects may include, stormwater management and mitigation, ecological restoration, MS4 Compliance, transportation drainage, green infrastructure, BMP retrofits, and flood mitigation and management.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of state and federal environmental permits for public and private-sector projectsResearch and interpret environmental laws and regulationsGather and interpret required environmental project-related dataPreparation of various technical reportsPrepare reports for stormwater analyses and designsConduct data collection and field workEffectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely mannerSkills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with othersSelf-motivated with attention to detailQualifications
BS in a natural science-related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Biology, Landscape Architecture, Fisheries and Wildlife, Ecology, Natural Resources)OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications preferred Internship experience preferredAbility/willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions0-1 year of fieldwork experience in natural habitats, whether through coursework or professional experienceMust have a valid driver’s license
